Get the Inside Scoop on Studio Recording Software Equipment by Patricia Stevens

Since 1999 in the digital musical software market there have been a series of eJay applications, created by PXD Software GmbH. The titles of the applications are related to the styles of today's music, which was the intension: e-Jay Techno, Hip-Hop eJay House Music, Rap & eJay dance music. All these applications have been modernized and improved, new more powerful editing features were added, plus the number of working sound tracks & quantity of samples has been increased. As of today each of them have 3 or 4 versions available. Their general characteristic is: 12 - 16 monopaths for work, including 1 separate drum-beat-track and a track to record any external sources (a mic, an electric guitar, keyboard, etc.). The latest update of eJay Dance 3 already has thirty two paths and an ability to record from an external source for all of these tracks, except for a shocking track. From 3 up to 5 thousand high-end samples are made specifically in studios for eJay programs by pro vocalists & musicians.

Samples are put together in sections in the form of multi-coloured squares. There're wonderful sets of voice and rap-preparations, unique sound-effects, tons of sequencers, keyboard, bass lines, live stringed instruments with enough deep abilities for editing, convenient and easy interface. Simply adjusting the necessary parts of the tool on the window of editing, you have an ability to create professional compositions, even if you have no formal musical background and in general you're not able to produce on any instrument.

Your finished musical product is exported in *.wav - format and if needed is edited via other softwares. It's possible to make your own shock sets, to create drum-type loops. The built-in rhythm-mudulators "Drum-Beat Generator" or "Groove Beat Generator" are pre-programmed with more than five hundred shock sounds and huge effects, for giving originality of musical composition.

The built-in Bassline creator in e-Jay Techno has several 100 presets. In eJay Hip-Hop 2 there's a robust scratch generator feature, which lets you create various sound effects similar to distortions, created on vinyl LPs. Having created the voice through the mic, it's possible to diversify it with various built in filters, to add echos, delays, robot noises, etc. The PC requirements are minimal: Pentium II with 300 mHz, 64 MB RAM, 4-x Speed CD-ROM drive, 170 MB is enough for these purposes, the PS's sound card has to support Direct Sound and you should be good to go.
