What music can do by Adekunle Tobiloba

Thought back in the good old days during my high school days, whenever it’s break time, some group of people in the classroom gather themselves together to sing all kind of songs, especially the circular hip hop songs in vogue. whenever they start to sing, you will notice a change in the way people walk into the classroom, some bouncing, some jumping and the rate of food consumption accelerates but if its an R&B songs, the rate of eating is slowed down and walking speed reduces.

I also discovered that music can be geographical, can be demographical, for example most middle east music is always on the minor scales where such music could be high spirited among the people living in such areas but in my geographical area, minor scale music are always emotional. We are mainly on the major scale for most of our music.

Street touts also have there own kind of music, very loud and 'crazy' (my opinion), that's what appeals to them it makes them high. It's noise to me but good music to them. My kind of music will never appeal to them, never. Music is a lifestyle!

Music therefore can be used as a tool in social relationship and people management. If you want to get the attention of a group of people, discover the kind of music that appeals to them. I t can also be employed in the work place, when you want work to be slowed down, introduce R&B music into your work place but if you want work to speed up use upbeat songs.

Good musicians employ this knowledge to build wealth in the market place; they give what the people want to them and smile to the bank. They know what it takes to bring money out from the pockets of elites and also know what it takes to take the hard earned money of the poor. They train their voice to sooth the kind of music they want to present from harsh voice texture for rock music to soft and smooth voice for R&B and Soul music. A good mastery of this voice skill can turn you into a star overnight.

How can you explain extreme reactions of people to stars like, Michael Jackson, Kirk Franklin, Anita Baker, to mention a few. You can likewise become a star. It is never too late.
