What you see - Ahala in the uber-luxurious Taj Krishna has replaced the widely popular T2 quite well. Now when afive star hotel decides to make a lounge, you know they're going to pull out all the stops. So you see gondola-shaped tables and rose petal potpourri setting the mood here to ensure a relaxing evening for you. The bridge-like entrance at this spacious lounge gives you a bird's eye view of the whole place. There are three bar counters, a pretty big dance floor and even separate seating areas around the sides of the lounge, if you're throwing a private party. The European-style interiors are tastefully done, with the predominant colors being maroon, red and cream. What you get - As far as the music is concerned, the DJs here play different stuff each night. So one can dance to the thump of house music on one day or groove to some hip-hop on the other. Some cool Bollywood remixes are also played on Saturday nights. This lounge has some great food and beverage options. Apart from all the usual suspects, like beer, scotch, rum and vodka, the cocktails here are pretty authentic. From the Martinis to the Long Island, the drinks here are great. Food wise, the cuisine is mostly European with some delectable delights from the Pan-Asian fare. The European starters are the popular choice, so definitely try them out. In terms of prices, there is a cover charge of Rs. 1,000 per couple, which can be redeemed inside for drinks and food. Drinks and snacks for two come up to Rs. 2,000. Domestic wines are priced around Rs. 500. Our verdict - Ahala is an ideal place for you to let your hair down. The décor gets our thumbs-up and the music, we can assure, will make you dance the night away. This place is the best on Saturday nights. Parking is taken care of by the valet, so no hassles there. The only thing that you may need to worry about may be the prices. But then it is a part of a five star hotel. So it means that your drinks and food here will be that much more expensive.
