Music downloads make cell phones more personal by Jim Mackey

In the growing world of changing technology, the cell phone remains supreme. Cell phones are getting smaller, thinner and doing a lot more than just allowing people to talk without being plugged into a land line. However, as cell phones evolve, so do the people that use them. Hip Hop and many other genres of music are really catching on. In this age of the downloadable music versus the compact disk, people want to take their favorite song with them wherever they go. Many cell phones are now including MP3 players for this very purpose.
To keep up with the popular trend of downloading songs, some cell phone providers are creating a way for people to download ringtones of their favorite songs. One such site that does this is Flycell.com. Flycell offers users several different genres of ringtones to choose from like R&B, Hip Hop, Holiday, Pop, Rock, Country/Folk, Latin, Sports Tones and more. The Flycell.com web site is very user friendly and allows you to look up ringtones by genre, or simply type in and search for the song you may be looking for.

If you are into wallpaper as well, Flycell offers the absolute latest in those too. Choose from cartoons & stuff, nature/animals, celebrities, sports, movies/music and others. There are also screen savers available. Flycell gives users categories such as action, adventure, arcade, virtual life, casino and puzzle for their game choices. To complete your cell phone needs, Flycell offers news and gossip, health & fitness and daily horoscope updates sent directly to you with their text services. The Flycell web site tauts many tabs for choosing exactly what you want with the service.

One major question about this service would be the cost of downloads. Like many other ringtone sites, Flycell works on a subscription basis. Flycell bills you directly through your cell phone provider, and to sign up you only need to enter your cell phone number and agree to the terms and conditions listed on the site. For $9.99 per month, you receive the “ClubPack” service which includes 20 credits per month that can be used towards ringtones, wallpaper, games, applications, screen savers, themes and other products. Some download can be two or three credits depending on what they are. All credits do expire at the end of the month.

Another important question concerns which cell phone providers Flycell works with as well as which cell phones. Flycell.com has a neat feature that allows you to enter your provider and your phone model before signing up to see if it’s compatible with the services available. Once you find your phone, the web site gives a diagram of which downloads will work with your phone. Some of the providers that are listed on the site are T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint, Dobson, CellularOne, Virgin Mobile and SunCom.
