The Story of Makaveli by Christine Layug

The name makaveli is much known throughout the urban community and hip hop community. The makaveli name carries the pride and honor of the one of the largest personal legacies of any music artist in the history of music, Tupac Shakur.
The name makaveli is only one of the many stage names that Tupac carries with him, but among his entire stage names, the makaveli is the most famous of all. Tupac started to call himself makaveli when he was bailed out of jail by the CEO of Death Row records, Suge Knight.

While incarcerated in Clinton Correctional Facility, Shakur read and studied Niccolò Machiavelli and other published works, which inspired his pseudonym "makaveli" under which he released the record album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory.

Even after his death, the name makaveli still rings in our ears because of the legacy that makaveli left after his death. The name makaveli can also be seen on one of his mother's fashion clothing line, the makaveli branded clothing. The makaveli banded clothing line was founded to preserve the legacy of Tupac.

But other than the makaveli branded clothing line, his mother also founded the Shakur Family Foundation (later re-named the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation or TASF) in 1997. The TASF's stated mission is to "provide training and support for students who aspire to enhance their creative talents." The TASF sponsors essay contests, charity events, a performing arts day camp for teenagers and undergraduate scholarships.

The Foundation for makaveli officially opened the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts (TASCA) in Stone Mountain, Georgia, on June 11, 2005. On November 14, 2003, a documentary about Shakur entitled Tupac: Resurrection was released under the supervision of his mother and narrated entirely in his voice.

Even if makaveli has passed away for more than eleven years now, we could still feel his presence through his makaveli branded clothing line and his foundations. If you want more information regarding the makaveli branded clothing line, then visit www.streetzwear.com.
